THIS WEEK IN XENA NEWS.... TWXN 37 10/18/96 Brought to you by Xena: Media Review (XMR): http://www.teleport.com/~gater/IAXS/IAXS.html XMR is a periodic annotated world press review of reports regarding the internationally syndicated television show XENA: Warrior Princess (1995 - ) and the castmembers, Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor. For a free e-mail subscription send "subscribe XMR" to ktaborn@lightspeed.net. Excerpts from the following cites will appear in future issues of XMR. EDITOR RANTINGS: I have noticed some confusion in readers about XMR (Xena Media Review) and TWXN (This Week in Xena News). I am in the process of getting XMR #18 ready for release. What you are reading now is TWXN #37. PLEASE NOTE: XMR and TWXN are two different publications. XMR is subscribed to and not posted publicly. It is a loooong publication which excerpts or reprints ALL of the articles it annotates. XMR is a historical review. Time is allowed between the coverage and the annotations so that they may be viewed in a historical context. For example, XMR #18 will cover the last week of April 1996 through May 1st. That is a buffer of six months. TWXN is merely a listing of a current cite and a provisional annotation (no excerpt or reprint). When I see new articles, etc., I enter them into the data base for XMR. However, I thought some may appreciate hearing about these articles around the time they are published or released. Therefore I made TWXN. It's petite size (usually equal to four pages or less) lends itself to release on the various Xena mailing lists, the usenet newsgroup alt.tv.xena, and the MCA Xena NetForum. There is NO subscription to TWXN. Also, I have only broke the rule of about no excerpts or reprints in TWXN for newstories about Lucy Lawless' injury. I am sorry abut the confusion that has arose. Another problem is that XMR used to be weekly. However, since the end of summer my disposable time has drastically dwindled. XMR #17 (although 4 parts!) was released September 2, 1996! I am very very far behind in XMR. However, I enjoy doing it, so I want to continue it even though it will be a non-regular periodical. In the meantime, WHOOSH is taking up most of my time. I am sure most people if asked whether they want WHOOSH or XMR, they would chose WHOOSH. Therefore I am dividing my time between the two projects accordingly. I am determined not to let XMR die. It's a wonderful project and I really don't know of any one who would want to continue it if I dropped it. Same with WHOOSH! So, I have prioritized. WHOOSH gets out on time and XMR is done in the time that WHOOSH does not use up. Good news regarding XMR #18, though. I am about 90% through. However, I still have the May 1st articles to annotate and a synopsis to write of TIES THAT BIND. I am seriously thinking of tabling the TIES synopsis and the May 1st articles in order to get XMR #18 by the weekend. Also, I am thinking of drastically reducing the size of XMR and maybe concentrating on only a week at a time so that I can get it out sooner (it won't be as exciting, but at least it would get out more than once every two months!) I hope this long diatribe has explained to everyone who cares what is going on. --Kym Continuing Injury News: [ ab] 10-15-96 THE TENNESSEAN. Tuesday. Page 3A. 938 words.
